Barney was born and has lived in the Cotswolds all of his life, he studied Art & Photography and went on to work in graphic design and car engineering/design. In later years he has run his own business building horseboxes, custom made to their owner’s specifications. He is currently managing an arts and crafts mill building in which is now a thriving space habituated by many artists and sculptors.

Being an engineer and fabricator by trade, he naturally progressed into steel sculptures, in a mainly floral design for his own pleasure. Following a successful showing at Showborough Sculpture Gardens, this is his first exploration into the world of bronze sculpture. Barney is progressing into more three dimensional work drawing on his engineering experience and his upbringing surrounded by animals, especially horses. Barney has always had an exceptional eye for equine form and instinctively knows what makes a horse look natural and attractive. He’s been fascinated and intrigued by the lost wax casting process in his recent work and is hoping to progress with bronze as his preferred medium.

Barney lives in a quite Cotswold village only a couple of miles from where he spent his childhood, he is married with two children and is surrounded by cats, dogs, horses, chickens, ducks and pigs, and enjoys long walks and gardening.
