Much of my work contains abstract references to my location, the coast.
I am a coastal person, my previous job was as a fisherman, and I have surfed, sailed and immersed myself in the ocean since I was a child. I hope that my work captures some of my experiences, and the passion I feel for the coast.
The more I work with glass the more it fascinates me. Glass is a unique material to work with, offering countless possibilities. Through many years of living, working and playing on the Cornish coast, I have developed an intimate understanding of the processes that continue to shape the environment around us. I am particularly interested in structures that appear in nature, for example rock strata, and how these structures can be incorporated into my work.

I find that architectural forms also influence me. Ideas that I have for my architectural tiles and panels inevitably shape my studio glass work. My current work is a lighthearted and fun series of colourful, functional bowls and plates. These pieces are particularly influenced by forms and colours I encountered while working as a fisherman.
This series of work also allows me to experiment with texture. I develop and change my approach slightly with every piece I make, and I hope that this will allow people to follow the natural progression of my work over time.
