Martin Stephens has worked with potter Chris Taylor at their idyllic, North Devon studio since leaving college together. Under the name of Heartland Pottery they have combined their talents to produce beautiful, honest stoneware pieces. They use many the traditional glaze recipes developed by the potteries previous owner and utilise functional forms with a strong emphasis on quality and durability - this is achieved by using a reduction firing technique.
Martin and Chris are now developing new individual glazes and pushing their throwing skills to produce new and larger pieces, mainly for the domestic market, but also for individual commissions.
