SIMON SHAW Ceramics
Simon studied at Wirral Collage Of Art and Design and Braintree College in Essex, after which he was employed in various UK workshops. After working abroad in Burmuda for several years, he returned to his native Merseyside where he established his own workshop in 1997.
His work is mainly thrown using a stoneware clay with porcelain, raku clay and glass additions. Barium based glazes give a textured, matt finish using a colour palette of blues, greens and lilacs.
Simon has used diverse sources of inspiration, including old European Country pottery, ancient Greek ceramics and contemporary literature and music.
